SOLID FLOW MEASUREMENT IN PIPES AND CONDUITS

How and why to measure the flow rate of solids: powders, granules, flakes

The use of flow meters for liquids, gases and steam is widespread in many production and commercial processes; less widespread, however, is the use of instrumentation dedicated to measuring the flow of solids (particles of any granulometry up to even grains or flakes). Most solids are often accumulated in batches by volume or weight, in order to be dosed. Naturally, the continuous measurement of the solids flow rate would save time, working continuously and not in batches, with a regulation that can also be automated and an immediate alert for any malfunctions.
Flow measurement in pneumatic conveying or free fall: microwave mass flowmeter
MÜTEC MF3000 is the flowmeter designed for the continuous measurement of solids of all kinds, in sizes from a few micrometres up to about 20 mm; it can be installed in pipes or ducts normally up to about 300 mm in diameter but in special cases even larger.
Solids flow alarm in pneumatic conveying or free fall: microwave flow switch. MÜTEC FS510M is the simplified version of the MF3000 meter, therefore it is a compact sensor, always insertion, to be mounted flush with the internal wall of the pipe or duct where the solid to be controlled flows.
Not only solid flow measurement but also filtration control: particulate release detection systems in air/gas but also in water/liquids
One of the very frequent needs in the treatment of both gaseous and liquid fluids is the efficient control of filtering or phase separation systems. There are many techniques available today both for controlling the efficiency of the filtration system and also for measuring what is emitted downstream of the filter.
